Why is it important to respect plants?During this quarter, students will continue their inquiry on what respect has to with their life by making connections to the essential question: Why is it important to respect plants? This will be done through project based learning activities that integrate the Science and Social Studies standards with the Language Arts and Mathematics standards. The goal is for students to apply what they learn in Language Arts and Mathematics within the projects. They will be graded on each project and then receive a cumulative grade at the end of the quarter in each area.

LANGUAGE ARTS
As you know, a child's development in this area is very developmental. What this means in our classroom is we have a large range of differing abilities. To address each child's individual needs, instruction is done with small group instruction in reading (based on student's current reading level), and conferring with students 1 to 1 in writing.
This also means all of the standards are Integrated each quarter. The grading standard is determined using the same indicators as on the report card: ME -Consistently, MP -Usually, DP-Sometimes, WB-Rarely
To make life and learning simpler for students and for parents, I've translated the Language Arts Standards into "I Can" statements.
